Story Idea: Watch It!

Have the kids watch the following youtube video about 'The Rich Fool':

Quiz Questions:

1. What did the rich man have lots of?

Crops

2. ALL of his grain wouldn't fit in his barns, what did he do with it?

He built bigger barns to fit it all

3. Did the man plan to share any of his riches with others?

No

3. What did the man plan to do once he had stored all of his grain?

Eat, drink and enjoy himself

4. What happened to the man that night?

He died

5. Can he take all of his money and grain to Heaven?

Our relationship with Jesus

Make sure we spend time with God, pray and ask God to help us, use our things to serve God and love others etc.

Game Idea: Money Relay

- Use some plastic coins from the kids church cupboard and place it in a bowl in the middle of the room

- Split the kids into groups and give each group a bowl and spread the groups around the edge of the room, each group forming a line

- Kids should take turn relay style, running to the middle, collecting a coin and bringing it back to put in their teams bowl

- Once all the coins are gone from the middle, kids can take coins from other teams bowls

- Play for a while, then count the coins to see which team wins (they will probably all be about even)

Remind the kids that it is silly to focus all of our time gaining money and things for ourselves, because these can easily be lost or taken from us and they don't last forever. We should focus on knowing God - because that DOES last forever!

Activity Idea: Find-A-Word

- Download and print the Rich Fool Word Find and have the kids find the words!

- To make it more exciting, have the kids form teams and race to be the first team to find all the words!

Remind the kids that the rich man was a fool because he was so focused on getting money and things which wouldn't last... when he should have focused on knowing Jesus, because that will last!

Activity Idea: Mobius Strip

- Download and print the mobius strip template on coloured paper and cut along the dotted lines to separate

- Allow the kids to decorate their strip of paper front and back

- Have the kids take one end, turn it half way around and then staple it to the other end of the strip to form a mobius strip

Show the kids that if you trace your finger along the surface of the strip - your finger traces the whole strip but never reaches the end... it goes on forever! Just like our relationship with God!
